Power Electronics
at the Core of Traction
From bridge rectification to silicon-controlled switching, our electrical product range covers every critical power conversion and control function in diesel-electric locomotive, mining, and marine systems. Built to OEM equivalence. Manufactured in India.
Six Core Product Families
Each family is engineered for a specific function within the locomotive power circuit. Every product is tested at full rated current before despatch and validated against OEM performance requirements.
Bridge Rectifiers
Alternator Output Conversion
Converting traction alternator AC output to DC for traction motor supply. Three-phase and single-phase bridge rectifiers manufactured with high-purity silicon diode stacks. Optimised for the thermal cycling demands of diesel-electric duty, rated for continuous high-current operation across wide ambient temperature ranges.
PIV ratings up to 2,400V
Temp: -40°C to +85°C
Fuel Pump Inverters
VFD Control
Variable-frequency drives controlling locomotive fuel injection pump motors. Designed for reliable start-up in extreme ambient temperatures and long-duration duty cycles with minimal maintenance requirements. Conformal-coated PCB assemblies protect against moisture, dust, and vibration in harsh locomotive environments.
Input: 72V DC battery bus
Conformal-coated PCBs
SCR Assemblies
Power Regulation
Phase-controlled power regulation for traction and auxiliary circuits. Silicon-Controlled Rectifier assemblies individually tested at full rated current before assembly and despatch. Each SCR stack is burn-in tested to 100% to eliminate early-life failures, ensuring the assembly performs reliably from first fitment.
dV/dt: 500 V/µs
100% burn-in tested
AC/DC Converters
Auxiliary Power
Regulated DC supply for control electronics, lighting, and HVAC systems. Auxiliary power conversion modules drawing from the main traction alternator output and supplying stable, regulated DC voltages for locomotive control systems. Available in IP54-rated enclosures.
Efficiency: >92% at rated load
IP54 enclosures available
Excitation Diodes
Field Regulation
High-reliability diodes for alternator excitation and field regulator circuits. Manufactured using silicon mesa technology for superior forward voltage characteristics and long operational life under continuous load. Available in stud and disc mount configurations.
Current: 15A — 300A
Stud and disc mounts
Custom Electrical Assemblies
Bespoke Engineering
Modified ratings, alternative housings, and bespoke configurations to specification. Where a standard product does not meet your platform or duty cycle requirement, our engineering team designs to your specification. Modified power ratings, alternative housing formats, non-standard output voltages, we manufacture to your drawings or sample components.

Every Elixir Engineering electrical product is designed and validated against the actual operating conditions of diesel-electric locomotive service, including wide ambient temperature swings, sustained vibration, high humidity, and continuous high-current duty cycles.
All products undergo full electrical testing at rated current and voltage before despatch. Thermal performance is validated against locomotive duty cycles, not laboratory bench conditions, ensuring the component performs reliably in the field from the first day of service.
OEM Equivalence.
Faster Lead Times.
Local Support.
Our electrical components are not reverse-engineered copies. Every design is validated against OEM performance requirements using modern simulation tools and physical test rigs, then optimised for Indian and global operating conditions; higher ambient temperatures, variable power quality, and demanding maintenance cycles.
The result: components that meet or exceed OEM specification at substantially lower total cost of ownership, with a local engineering team available for technical support throughout the product lifetime.
