GE Electric Drive Haul Trucks

Ultra-class haul trucks share core electronics with GE locomotive traction systems, including 17FM/17FE control panels and IGBT modules. Elixir's range, developed for GE locomotives, directly covers many high-failure electronic components in these trucks.
Trucks operate with 300+ tonne payloads in continuous 24-hour production cycles. Failure of a single IGBT module or power supply stops the truck entirely, resulting in immediate production loss.

Heavy Haul Mining Rail

Mine site rail networks and export commodity corridors operate under significantly more severe duty cycles than mainline freight. Elixir Engineering’s full locomotive product range applies directly to these mining rail applications.
Locomotives operate at or near maximum tractive effort for extended durations. Component selection must account for sustained peak-load operation rather than intermittent duty cycles.

The GE modular electric drive system architecture used in ultra-class mining trucks shares significant electronic design commonality with GE traction systems used in Evolution Series locomotives.
Both systems use the same GE 17FM and 17FE control panel architecture, IGBT switching modules, and diesel-to-wheel interface cards. As a result, Elixir’s locomotive product range explicitly supports the most critical mining truck components.
